Cartoon Icon

Avarice is the name of the imp whom the Smurfs had first encountered in the cartoon show episode "Smurfette's Dancing Shoes", when he tried to force Smurfette into marrying him so that he can gain access to the Lost Treasure of the Ancient Trolls. Papa Smurf stopped him by causing the magical dancing shoes to appear on the imp's feet as well as that of his gargoyle servants. In Flowerbell's Love Triangle he appears again to cause trouble by going after Flowerbell the Woodnymph.

Abilities

Avarice has the ability to teleport himself to any known location he desires.

Voice Actor(s)

In the Empath: The Luckiest Smurf story series, he would most likely be voiced by Gerrit Graham, who played the Q named Quinn in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Death Wish". Another possible candidate would be Alan Tudyk, who was the voice of King Candy in Disney's 2012 movie Wreck-It Ralph.

Trivia

  • The cartoon show's original version of Avarice doesn't have a name, and is simply known on the Smurfs Wiki as "The Treasure Hunter Imp". Papa Smurf in the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series only refers to Avarice as "a treasure hunter imp" out of contempt for the character.
