It is part of the soundtrack for "Smurfed Behind: The Return", playing during parts when Empath is going through a "walkabout" in his mind during his coma.

Video Performance

Opening shot of Smurfs gathered around Empath as he is lying on a bed, totally unresponsive.

Dabbler/Doctor: Hello? Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me? Is there anyone home?
Come on, now...I hear you're feeling down.
Well, I can ease your pain, get you on your feet again.
Relax...I need some information first.
Just the basic facts...can you show me where it hurts?

The scene then flashes to a bright sunny day in what would be a carefree version of Empath's childhood in the Smurf Village.

Empath: There is no pain you are receiving,
A distant ship smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying.

The scene then moves to Empath as a child being sick in bed.

Empath: When I was a child, I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two ballooons.
Now I've got that feeling once again.
How can I explain? You would not understand.
This isn't how I am.
And I...have become...comfortably numb.

The scene again returns to the adult Empath still lying on the bed, with Dabbler/Doctor ready to give him a needle shot.

Dabbler/Doctor: Okay, it's just a little pin prick.
There'll be no more...

Empath: Aaaaaahhhh...

Dabbler/Doctor: ...but you might feel a little sick.
Can you stand up? I do believe it's working. Good.
That will keep you going through the show.
Come on, it's time to go.

The scene returns to a bright sunny day in what would be a carefree version of Empath's childhood in the Smurf Village.

Empath: There is no pain you are receiving,

The scene then moves to Empath as a child seeing his adult form.

Empath: When I was a child, I had a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look, but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
And I...have become...comfortably numb.
