A gift or present is an item given freely by one person to another, often on special occasions such as Christmas, Hanukkah, or a birthday (and similar events), but gifts can also be given on a normal day, as an act of kindness.
In various story universes gifts and the acts of both giving and receiving them appear.
Empath: The Luckiest Smurf stories[]
In the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series, Empath learns during his first visit to the Smurf Village that giving gifts to one another is part of being a Smurf. Unfortunately, one of the first gifts Empath was given by another Smurf was one of Jokey's "surprise presents", which when it exploded made Empath wonder at first if he accidentally destroyed the gift.
