- Jokey and Lady Space

Lady Space is a character that is part of the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series.

Background Information[]

She presumably came from the planet Jendel to look for a suitable companion to take with her back to her home planet to perpetuate her species. In reality she was Smurfette who was wearing a costume that she designed with the help of Empath. When Jokey dared to mock Lady Space for really being Smurfette in disguise, she gave him a rather painful electrical shock that she called the Cosmic Zinger, which was really caused by Empath transferring his own telepathic and telekinetic energies into Smurfette to produce the painful shock.

Notes[]

  • Smurfette's Lady Space costume and makeup are based on the designs of Ace Frehley's (and Tommy Thayer's) stage persona as Space Ace from the rock band Kiss, with the costume being an amalgamation of Ace's 1976 Destroyer and 1979 Dynasty costume designs.
  • Lady Space is a reference that comes from Ace Frehley's Kiss: Alive II song "Rocket Ride", while the Cosmic Zinger is a reference to an in-universe fictional science-fiction cat and mouse duo in the Hanna-Barbera produced The Tom And Jerry Show cartoon episode "Cosmic Cat And Meteor Mouse".
