"How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: 'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.' Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit."
- - God, quoted from Isaiah 14:12-15
Lucifer is a character who is part of the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series. He was formerly God's exalted servant in heaven who rebelled against Him and thus was cast down to the earth, where he deceived mankind into sin and thus corrupted God's perfect creation. From there he continued to oppose God through all sorts of manipulation and deceit, even attempting to prevent the salvation of man through God sending His Son Jesus Christ to die for the sins of the world. In the EMPATH stories, he is the "god" that the Viperions refer to as the Day Star, whom they worship and obtain their supernatural power to deceive whoever they come across.
His signature song is "Sympathy For The Devil" by The Rolling Stones.
- The name Lucifer comes from the Latin Vulgate translation of the Holy Bible, meaning "morning star" or "day star". This name is mostly used in Isaiah 14:12 in the King James Version, the New King James Version, and the Modern English Version.
