Sword dances are recorded throughout world history. There are various traditions of solo and mock-battle (Pyrrhic) sword dances from Asia and Europe.
Hero: The Guardian Smurf stories[]
According to Bryce, his homeland has its own style of sword dance which involves the dancer crossing two swords on the ground in an "X" shape, and dancing around and within the 4 quarters of it. Bryce himself has performed this style dance on regular occasions. Upon viewing one of these dances, Fergus and Hawkeye adopted the style of dance and perform it whenever a Ceilidh was held in the Smurf Village.
Empath: The Luckiest Smurf stories[]
In the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series, the McSmurf clan have a particular sword dance that its males perform every year on Highland Day, which involves the dancer crossing two swords on the ground in an "X" shape, and dancing around and within the 4 quarters of it. At present, the only Smurfs who are capable of performing this dance flawlessly are Duncan, Tapper, Miner, and Empath.
