Telekinesis (also known as psychokinesis) is the ability to mentally control objects without coming into direct physical contact with them. Sorcerers may have some level of telekinetic control through the use of magic, but do not have absolute direct control as those born with telekinetic powers, since it requires the use of thought.

Mainstream Smurfs Media[]

Baby Smurf in the 1980s cartoon has telekinetic powers. An example of these powers is the episode "He Who Smurfs Last", where Baby Smurf levitates a vial out of Chlorhydris's hands and over to the Smurfs.

Empath: The Luckiest Smurf stories[]

In the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series, Empath Smurf as well as all Psyches are born with this ability, which among other things enables them to fly and to project force fields around themselves. How many objects they are able to control at the same time is unknown, but there is a particular upper limit as far as number and size of the objects. Telekinesis can be combined with regular physical attacks when used in confrontations with beings of the same size, either offensively or defensively.

As Empath and the Psyche Master are both first-generation Smurfs born with both telepathic and telekinetic abilities, nobody among the Smurfs is sure exactly where these abilities come from, except that Smurf legend states that those who are born with the star mark on their foreheads to indicate possession of these abilities are "blessed by the stars".

With sorcerers such as Papa Smurf, this is mostly achieved through levitation spells where magical energy can surround an object and then have it be moved under the sorcerer's control through the use of wands or hand movements. The basic spell for levitation is Wingardium Leviosa.

Glovey Story[]

In the Glovey Smurf story series, Astrid possesses telekinetic abilities.

LD Stories[]

Within The Smurfs: Light and Dark series, several characters possess telekinetic abilities.

Humans[]

The main users of this ability are Homnibus (who only does so when necessary in self-defense), Hogatha (who typically does so on a daily basis for small tasks), and Gargamel (who is capable, but has less control over such powers). Homnibus intends to someday make Justin aware of such an ability, but Gargamel has no intentions of teaching Scruple.

Smurfs[]

The two primary Smurfs who have demonstrated such power are Papa Smurf and Brainy, although they seldom need it. Papa Smurf had learned to control such power from Palladore during his youth, and has steadily been teaching Brainy to do the same since appointing him as his apprentice.

The Smurfs: Two Sides[]

In The Smurfs: Two Sides, Baby Smurf has the same telekinetic powers that they had in the 1980s cartoon series. These powers are used much more often in The Smurfs: Two Sides than they were in the 1980s cartoon.

Notes[]

  • The Wingardium Leviosa spell is one that is used for levitation in the Harry Potter book and film series, which Ron Weasley used to knock out a troll with his own club in Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone.
