The Time Traveling Nightmare is a rare kind of nightmare that occured in the Smurfs: The Magical Blue story series. Unlike all kinds of nightmares, this can actually make the victim sleep forever, however these conditions are very rare and there hasn't been any cases of the "sleeping forever" thing.
In the first episode of the series, it was shown that the Smurfs themselves experienced this a long time ago. But however, the nightmare was somehow broken when one of them woke up, revealing that the nightmare was slowly wearing off them, one by one. Unknown to them, Nightmarey, a female demon dream spirit, casted this spell on them in order for them to go extinct, but it backfired somehow and she vowed that she would get her revenge. This nightmare includes every episode of season 9 of the cartoon show.
A similar thing that happened was in the time travel saga where the Smurfs along with the Smurfettes had gone back in time, but it was revealed that it was just a story.
